An exclamation mark in the heading and sub-heading. Clearly a sign of overexcitement or madness on my part. I’ll let you decide which as I focus on cutting back the flippant use of any further exclamations, unless I really mean it, of course.
I’d like to start off by saying thank you for joining me over in this other bit of the internet. I know it can be a bit of a chore making a new account for things but I hope you’ll find the effort to be worth it with these monthly newsletters of delight.
If you haven’t read through my new blog yet, you can check it out here. Specifically it’s worth having a read through this post to catch up on my latest NanoWriMo news, but in short I’m working on the last book of the Three Crowns series this year, and as a special treat to you, my loyal minions er, readers, you can have a sneaky look at the first draft of the first chapter by clicking on the appropriately labeled button
.
You might have noticed on my shiny new banner there is also a new book cover. Well, that’s because I skipped over doing one of those reveal things and just wacked it out there. Here is a better view though of the cover for the last book in the series, unless of course I do end up splitting it into two books, in which case there will be one more cover to reveal in the future!
In subsequent months you will be able to enjoy a new mini interview segment where I will be asking authors five pretty random questions about their books and characters, and of course sharing their answers, as well as a bit of information about those authors and their books with you. The only question is, what should I name this new feature?
If you have a better idea for a name, or just one you want to share you can either reply to this email, or message me directly at dheyman@syntheticmindspress.com
Last, but by no means least, my good friend and fellow fantasy author David Trotter has just successfully funded the kickstarter for the latest book in his series. I wrote a pretty glowing review for the first book earlier this year, which you can find on the blog, and as part of backing this kickstarter you can get copies of all three books if you haven’t started the series yet!
As I said, the project is already funded, so it’s a safe a bet as any on kickstarter that you’ll get your books, and you can even read a sample of the latest one on the project page
There are all sorts of bonus goodies for backers, as well as the choice of ebook, paperback or this rather tasty looking hardback edition!
That’s all from me for this month, don’t forget to keep an eye on the blog over on substack to get new updates and find my book reviews (when I get the time to actually do some reading!) Until next time, happy reading everyone!
